Your clock, lamp or vase will last a lifetime – all set to become a family heirloom. </H2> <H2 TITLE="Coopering information">Coopering – to make the clocks, lamps and vases, I use a construction technique called coopering, used to make wooden barrels. This allows me to use a <I>minimum</I> amount of wood, using small flat pieces to make relatively large hollow items like vases. Wood that otherwise would be cut from the centre of a solid block is saved. Contrasting inlays accentuate the geometrical shapes and, in the case of the wall clocks, act as hour markers.</H2> <H2 TITLE="Hand finishing information"> Hand finishing – all wooden surfaces of the wall clocks, table lamps, vases and table skittles are hand finished with three coats of a special organic oil to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. The oil <I>soaks into</I> the wood, rather than lying on the surface and special driers in the oil ensure that it dries to a durable, scratch resistant finish.
