Eye-Catching Designs Crafted Using Traditional Materials
Offering an Individual Touch for Your Home and Gifts
Or perhaps something distinctive for your own home? My wooden wall
clocks, table lamps and large wooden vases are designed and crafted to be a little different. Made in Britain from solid British hardwood – to last a lifetime.
Or maybe you are looking for a traditional wooden game? Table Skittles (or bar skittles), a popular pub game, is enjoyed by all ages from the young to the young at heart. A great way to unwind at the end of a tiring day.
Large wall clocks – tell the time with style. Modern, yet inspired by the later, more elegant, period of the Art Deco style. The Butterfly and Leaf clocks are based on natural forms. Other designs, such as the Umbrella clock, have geometric shapes. Select the
'Clocks 1' or 'Clocks 2' buttons for colour photographs and more information.
The built-in background selector allows you to view your chosen clock design and
wood colour against various backgrounds. There over 130 background colours,
patterns and textures to choose from so you should find one that is a reasonable match to your own home.
Table lamps – unusual pyramid-shaped lamps for elegant mood lighting in any room. Select the 'Lamps' button to view distinctive designs of
wooden table lamps.
Large wooden vases – striking octagonal
wooden vases
to brighten your day with a perpetual display of beautiful silk flowers or dried flowers and grasses. Select the 'Vases' button.
Table Skittles – a gentle, skilful and sociable game for all ages, and a great way to unwind with your family at the end of a tiring day. Select the Skittles button to see photographs and details of the care I take in making them – to look good, last a lifetime and be a joy to play.
Discover how table skittles, one of the most popular traditional pub games, got the name ‘Devil Amongst the Tailors’ (or Devil Among the Tailors). The game is also known as bar skittles, pub skittles, indoor skittles, nine pins and bar pins.
Traditional gifts – a set of table skittles (or bar skittles) makes a splendid gift. Very popular at Christmas or as birthday presents, particularly from grandparents! If, like me, you aren't in the first flush of youth and appreciate traditional and nostalgic products, take a look at
Mabels
– Maintaining Bygone Times. They provide daily living support and services, nostalgic goods and gifts for the older generation.
Easy online shopping – no need to go traipsing around high street stores – you won't find my wall clocks, table lamps, wooden vases or the Table Skittles in any of the shops, I sell them exclusively here.
I use a secure server provided by WorldPay. Owned by The Royal Bank of Scotland, they are of the best known companies providing secure online payment facilities for small businesses like mine. They encrypt your card details and provide strict anti-fraud and security measures.
Other ways to pay – if you aren't happy using your credit or debit card online you don't have to. Select the 'Other Info' button or click here for details of other payment methods.
Money back if not completely satisfied – full refund guaranteed if, for any reason, you are not happy with your purchase.
Prices – my wall clocks, table lamps and wooden vases compare favourably in price with the best items in high street shops. And they're certainly competitive compared with craft gallery prices!
Wood selection – you select the wood you would like your wall clock, table lamp or vase to be made from. Select the 'Woods' button to view the British hardwoods available. Choose from oak, one of the most traditional of furniture woods, the distinctive copper-coloured grain of ash or the understated elegance of sycamore. Or, if you like dark oak, I use a traditional fuming process that ages oak without obscuring the beautiful grain pattern.
Durability – hardwoods are very durable and mellow beautifully with age. Your clock, lamp or vase will last a lifetime – all set to become a family heirloom.
Coopering – to make the clocks, lamps and vases, I use a construction technique called coopering, used to make wooden barrels. This allows me to use a minimum amount of wood, using small flat pieces to make relatively large hollow items like vases. Wood that otherwise would be cut from the centre of a solid block is saved. Contrasting inlays accentuate the geometrical shapes and, in the case of the wall clocks, act as hour markers.
Hand finishing – all wooden surfaces of the wall clocks, table lamps, vases and table skittles are hand finished with three coats of a special organic oil to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. The oil soaks into the wood, rather than lying on the surface and special driers in the oil ensure that it dries to a durable, scratch resistant finish. This is particularly useful with the bar skittles, as a finish like varnish, which lies mainly on the surface, would quickly become scratched and marked.
