- Many of the designs of wall clocks, table lamps and wooden vases are available in various British hardwoods. Each has wood inlays of a contrasting colour to accentuate the geometrical designs and, in the case of the wall clocks, act as hour markers.
- The table skittles are made mainly from ash and oak.
- All of the woods used are British – except for a very small amount of mahogany used only for inlays, if you choose that option. Unfortunately there are no British woods that produce the warm, rich, red colour of mahogany. However, it's used only in very small quantities for inlays, and my supplier assures me that it comes from a managed source.
- The wood is sanded to a smooth lustrous finish, then protected with a modern blend of natural oils which soak into the wood, rather than just lying on the surface. The oils enhance the grain and wood colour and give a beautiful satin sheen.
- Driers in the oil ensure a totally dry finish, sealing the wood and protecting it from dust and moisture.
- An oil finish can't be chipped like some other finishes that stay mainly on the surface of the wood. A scratch is easily repaired and doesn't require the whole finish to be stripped.
